Organic Cinnamon Vanilla Rooibos Tea

South African Rooibos 'Red Tea' combined with a classic pair of island spices - cinnamon and vanilla. Our medium bodied rooibos is the perfect base for the mix of cinnamon and vanilla bean pieces. This tea offers a great flavor kick without the caffeine and in addition to the great taste brings a host of health benefits to the cup. A teaspoon of cinnamon contains 28 mg of calcium, almost one mg of iron, over a gram of fiber, and vitamins C, K, and manganese. In traditional medicine, cinnamon has been used for digestive ailments such as indigestion. More recently, modern medical research has turned its eye on cinnamon and is adding to the list of benefits including its role as a mild anti-inflammatory.

WHAT IS ROOIBOS?
The rooibos bush only grows in a small area of the Western Cape province of South Africa. Generally, the leaves are oxidized in a process that produces the distinctive reddish-brown colour of rooibos and enhances the flavor of the tea. In South Africa it is more common to drink rooibos with milk and sugar, but elsewhere it is usually served without.

The flavor of rooibos tea is often described as being sweet (without sugar added) and slightly nutty. Rooibos can be prepared in the same manner as black tea. Unlike black tea, however, rooibos does not become bitter when steeped for a long time. Also marketed as "Red Tea" here in the U.S., rooibos is a popular caffeine-free alternative to a black tea and can also be used to make a wonderful iced tea.
