SPECIAL STORM ANNOUNCEMENT:
Zen Tara Tea will be OPEN Monday Oct. 29, 8-7 and Tuesday, Oct. 30, 8-7, regular hours thereafter.
As many of our long-time customers know, our building (while not the prettiest to look at) had the visionary idea in the 1970's to put the power lines underground. Blessed with power, food & drink and WiFi (usually), we've been a neighborhood beacon for a respite from stormy weather.
Through large snowstorms (Snowmaggedon, 2010, left) or tropical storms and hurricanes, we've done whatever it takes to have a place for folks to come and warm up from the cold, or cool down and charge their phones and iPads when it is broiling in the summer (we were featured in a local news article).
Our primary concern for everyone is to be safe, and don't worry about our staff, we never make those that live a distance away travel in bad weather. The owners have camped out in the store when necessary to make sure we can open, and fortunately a couple of employees live in the building and their commute is only a short elevator ride down to the first floor.
Like you, we'll be watching the weather, hoping for the best. If the storm does cause power outages or disrupts your routine, once it is safe to head outside if you need anything, stop by the shop. We'll leave the lights on for you.
