This week we held an after-hours event at our downtown Bethesda tea shop for customers to try a creative selection of tea infused wine, sake and cocktails. One of the favorites of the night was our Himalayan Chai Infused White Russian. Here is the recipe:
2 oz. of vodka infused with Zen Tara Tea Himalayan Chai loose tea
2 oz. of Bailey's Irish Cream liqueur
3-4 oz. of milk to taste
Infuse Zen Tara Himalayan Chai tea in vodka for at least 12 hours, or as long as 24 hours. Use 5 teaspoons of chai tea for a full 750 ml bottle of vodka, or proportionally less to make smaller amounts. After infusing, strain, pour 2 oz. into a brandy or short high-ball glass. Add the Bailey's and milk to taste. Add ice and serve!
Optional: For a Himalayan Chai Black Russian use unflavored coffee liqueur or cold-brewed iced coffee and the chai infused vodka in a 1:2 ratio, coffee to vodka. Serve over ice without milk.
