We Want Everyone to have a Wonderful Tea Experience
Zen Tara Tea was founded in 2007 on a simple premise: Bring together the highest quality teas and provide an exceptional level of service to every customer. We also wanted to make a strong commitment to source teas and related products that are both certified organic at the grower and produced in socially and environmentally responsible ways. To date, our small tea shop in Bethesda, MD USA has amost 100 organically grown teas to choose from - one of the largest selections of any tea company anywhere.
While the quality of tea is always the highest consideration, we don't subscribe to the premise that selling an organic product automatically means there should be a premium surcharge built into the price. We offer our teas at a fair price relative to their high quality for every customer to enjoy. In some cases, our teas cost the same or are slightly less expensive than teas grown and processed with more industrialized methods. We may make a little less profit sometimes but we feel that these social and environmental considerations are a part of responsibly operating a tea business in a global economy. A Visit to the Zen Tara Tea Shop
We hope Zen Tara will become your favorite tea shop, in person or virtually, online. A visit to the shop offers you the opportunity to try our full selection of teas by the cup or teapot, to dine in or to go. In addition to our extensive range of teas there is also the option of Mayorga Coffee (regular and decaf), iced teas of the day and a variety of pastries & desserts. The front section of our shop has small tables and a front window counter with seating. Throughout the shop our packaged teas are on display and can be shopped self-served or with the advice of the staff. A separate space in the shop with a glass wall houses our tea Tasting & Blending room where small groups can meet and where monthly tea tasting events are held.
The shop is conveniently located for access from throughout the Metro DC region. We are half a block west of Wisconsin Avenue, a major street that travels from northwest DC up through Bethesda and Rockville, MD. For Metro subway transportation exit the Bethesda Station and walk approximately 3 blocks south along Wisconsin Avenue to Bethesda Avenue. Go to your right on Bethesda Avenue and we are 1/2 block ahead on the left side of the street.
